The Copper Kettle in Regina
Well, I was on my own for supper tonight, so decided to walk across the street to the "Copper Kettle" restaurant. I ordered the Spinach Roll, don't bother with the salad, and a 1/2 litre of E&J Sauvignon Blanc. The "Spinach Roll" was actually a chicken breast, stuffed with spinach and Feta cheese, and covered with a creamy tomato and mushroom sauce. The chicken itself was a bit overdone, but other than that, the meal was quite good. Now, I'm no wine expert, but I like to try enjoying my wine for the bouquet and flavour, rather than just for the slight buzz. The wine had a nose that was familiar, but I couldn't immediately put my finger on. It was definitely fruity, not floral. I finally realized it was the same smell as the Fruiteria Ordonez. I'm still not sure, exactly, what that smell is, but I think it might be a combination of mangoes and grapefruit. The wine was good with a somewhat long finish of citrusy acidity. I managed to stumble back to my hotel, and I'll probably head down to Monarchs for a scotch or two in a bit.
Stay tuned.
